You may have noticed that in the last few days we have been trying to improve some of the features of Hungarian Spectrum that will, we hope, make reader discussion a great deal easier.
One of Hungarian Spectrum’s hallmarks is the quality of comments that accompany the daily posts. I can highly recommend to all readers that they periodically browse through the comments section. They will often find in-depth analyses from experts and thoughtful readers from all over the world.
So what’s new?
The problem with the original organization of comments was that it was difficult to follow nested comments. Readers lost the thread of a discussion. To remedy this problem one of our readers put a great deal of work into improving the format. And, yes, it is immeasurably better.
The one downside to this new system as initially designed was that commenters lost the ability to edit their own comments, a feature that everybody had welcomed when it was introduced a few months ago. And so our “resident” computer expert came to the rescue once again and added a feature that would include this function. Security experts, however, say that a system which includes the editing function in this configuration needs a “safety feature.” This means that everyone who wants to comment must register. Registration, which of course is free, will make absolutely no difference as far as the identity (and, where people choose, anonymity) of the commenters is concerned. Just as in the past, I am the only one who has access to commenters’ e-mail addresses. The only difference you will see will be the word “member” beneath the avatar.
So register now to make your voice heard and have your beautifully self-edited comments preserved for history.
