Happy Holidays and a Peaceful New Year to our gracious host and everybody here from me too!

PS and not too much OT:

Germany is doing better (really …) and this might follow for the other states of the EU too, so I’m a bit optimistic for Hungary …
Here’s the link for those who can read German:

PPS:
Seems the title field of this entry is empty that’s why comments on this show no link – I found this strange at first until I realised it.

Happy holiday dear Eva, our tireless and inspired leader. A historian making history in her own time.

I’d wish you a day of rest, but I know it has no chance of being fulfilled! So let me instead wish for something more probable: Let Hungarians awaken and rout the Orbanian blight sooner rather than later.

With unending admiration,

Stevan (István)

Happy Holidays to you too Éva!

So grateful to you for all your hard work, and the very nformative articles on your HS.

Many of us living in Hungary cannot really read Hungarian, so HP is a godsend!
Keep well and hope you can have a bit of a rest….

Merry Christmas to Eva and the entire readership!

Not to bring anyone down, but while you are – hopefully – enjoying a warm meal in a warm home, let’s remember that there are many people in Hungary who are having a very different Christmas right now:

It’s a good reminder that politics is not just a game, but that the policies of this regime have real world consequences for real people, everyday people, and because of them we can’t give up the fight yet, no matter how hopeless it may seem at times.

I also take this opportunity to add my thanks to Prof. Balogh for her daily columns that I too look forward to with expectation (and sometimes a little malicious pleasure) each morning. This blog serves to inform those inside and outside Hungary on the country “the tourists don’t see” and certainly takes untold and very serious effort on her part. We are the grateful recipients and wish Prof. Balogh many more provocative and interesting blog entries in the future! Brava!

God bless all these poor Hungarians, standing in line at Christmas for a little food:

Merry Christmas Eva, our wine soup and goose is ready and I will attend mass at St Steve King of Hungary church with my family here in Chicago shortly. As long as we eat one hour prior to mass we are following the rule put in place by Pope Paul VI on November 21, 1964 for receiving Communion. But I am still not sure why the rule was changed from having to fast the entire day of Christmas Eve, but I am sure glad it was.

My one daughter who is a US Army Captain in the Reserves is home for the Hollidays as is my older daughter who works in the hotel industry here. My wife who speaks not a word of Hungarian and is not a Catholic will be a good sport so she will bless herself with Holly water and genuflect, but not take Communion since she is actually a Methodist.

Thank you Eva for your endlessly interesting essays which I enjoy reading every day.

Happy Holyday Season, dear Eva. Please keep it up with the excellent work you do. I wish you good health, above all, and all the energy needed for this site to run.
Though I am not an active commenter recently (have my reasons) I continue to be a faithful reader of yours. God bless you all.

I wish to extend a wonderful Christmas to Prof Balogh and her readership throughout the world. There is much meaning to take up around this time of the year. I am glad that we can all contribute in our own ways. Boldog Karacsonyt!
