The beggar maid

The literary allusion may be sorely misplaced (no one would ever describe me as “more fair than words can say”), but I’m back playing the uncomfortable role of the beggar.  A year ago, with your financial support, Hungarian Spectrum got a home of its own, with amenities that I think on balance have worked quite well for our community. It’s now time for me to renew these services. If you appreciate this forum, I would greatly appreciate your support once again.

I have placed a PayPal button in the right-hand column of the home page. With this button, using any recognized credit card, you can either make a one-time donation or opt for a monthly subscription. Let me stress that this blog will remain open to everybody. Subscribers won’t get anything special, except for my undying gratitude.

Many, many thanks for all you have done to make Hungarian Spectrum a success.

I am posting here because at this moment (9:30 AM CET, Feb 17, 2016)

A. Eva’s website is unavailable from Hungary using regular browsers.
B. The last entry and its comments (including my quote from Chaplin’s Great Dictator) are unavailable even with this method

Help.

I tried several times to pay by credit card, but get a new screen message from Pay Pal the “Sorry — your last action could not be completed” message.

BTW the telephone no field does not accept +36.., but only 0036…

It worked for me from the US. There maybe something wrong with your PayPal account.. Were you able to pay for anything else?

On the page that comes up, click on the Continue. After that do not put n 00. Put in 361 (1 for Budapest if applies) and then all the other numbers. Did you choose Hungary from the roof down? Make sure it is not an other country, as it would not take the phone number.

Thanks guys, but ..
I start with the Donate button up left here, choose Hungary, enter credit card details (card OK paid elsewhere today), phone everything OK, no reminderds to fill data.
But I still get the “Sorry — your last action could not be completed” message on the Pay Pal page, which I have not accessed at all. This credit card is not linked to PPal. What’s wrong ?

You know it’s illegal in the US to fund organizations that urge the violent overthrow of a foreign government. You may be ok under Obama but once Trump is in office…

??? Do you mean the CIA is funded illegally by private donations ?!

Our new trolls (actually they’ve all been here before) are really funny in a way – is there a special reason that they now appear in force?

Can’t be that anyone is afraid of the regulars on HS or even our gracious host!

Yes. It is funny they often butt in with very silly posts, which can be only ridiculed, as the locals do with gusto. So what’s their purpose ?

Perhaps that’s what they are, nothing more to it.

Do you really mean that after all his hairdo is his best feature, since nothing else is there..?

Should have guessed…

I am also highly aware that Mr. Trump aggressively uses his Constitutional right of free speech with gusto. Calling for a political overhaul of the Hungarian Fidesz government does not violate in any manner 18 U.S. Code § 2339C which is the law I suspect was referenced in the post aimed at me.

Unlike Fidesz ruled Hungary the United States does not change its Constitution for the political expediency of the moment. Eva as a citizen of the United States enjoys the rights of free speech that can’t be infringed by Fidesz operatives.

Dude! You definitely have to report that!!!

Please enlighten us! What organization are you referring “that urge the violent overthrow of a foreign government”?
By the way I certainly do not want Trump to win but if he does, he will not take kindly to Orban and his pussycats love for Russia. I do not think Trump truly likes ex-KGB workers or those who were Young Communists, like Orban! Cheers!

On that remark of ‘violent overthrow’: more than not it probably comes from that Asian land of ‘nothing is true and everything is possible’. The land where realities are fashioned to suit a script of how all things are to be seen.

One skill set our soon to be POTUS will hopefully have is to be fairly adept in ‘political quantum mechanics’ where it must be remembered that just by the mere fact of studying something anything you see is not what is. An understanding of ambiguity is necessary and the name of the game in the study of Orbanian and Putinian political science.
