In case you think I make this stuff up: weather report from Bethany

Here’s a link to a segment from NBC’s local news (you have to sit through an ad to view it) about the second tornado to hit Bethany in two years.

In 2018 my property was hit directly, resulting in a lot of damage. This time it was spared. I have no idea where the house is that you can see on the video, but it must be relatively close.

We are glad that lives were spared, but the financial damage must be great. Hopefully insurance and Government assistance will ease the burden to all…

Fires in the west, tornados in the north and hurricanes in the south with the virus and Trump on top of all that. And HS keeps on. Hope the cleanup will go smoothly in your area.

Dear Eva, it might sound cynical, but the most important point is that you made it without any bodily harm.
And as I understand it your house also wasn’t damaged – or at least not much.
So you (and us readers and commenters here too …) can call yourself lucky.
I’ve only seen what a hurricane can do in Flamingo and Ft Lauderdale Beach – not nice to look at, and of course even worse to experience it.

Dear Eva,
We are so pleased to hear that you managed to get through it unscathed. It looks terrible with those power lines down, take care and hope there are friends nearby who can assist you with shopping and those other daily necessities.

So sad to lose so many trees, but glad that you are OK, and your house was spared.

As you say, a pretty ordinary storm which thankfully left you and your home unharmed. But why does an ordinary storm leave the grid disrupted at all? I spent time in Cannes when buildings and shops were severely flooded in a storm. Yet no serious disruption of the grid. Much pumping out but no grid disruption. I was in London in 1987 when we had a mega tornado, No grid disruption. There is an infrastructure problem where you are. Not entirely surprising. I wish you the very best in this crises.
