Although the information was just released, a few Hungarian media outlets, especially those close to the Hungarian government, already reported that a unique survey had been conducted by the Lounge Group, a marketing, communications, and research firm headquartered in Hungary, on the attitude of American citizens toward public life and their interest in the upcoming presidential election. The unique feature of this survey is that, simultaneously with the research on American attitudes, the same questions were also submitted to 500 Hungarians. A word of caution. The Hungarian part of the survey was conducted by Századvég Alapítvány, a Fidesz think tank. Moreover, at least according to Magyar Hírlap, it was an online survey.
The portrait that emerges of the U.S. electorate doesn’t always jibe with what we see on the ground, or with history. According to the Lounge survey, more than five out of six voting-age Americans will go to the polls this year, which would be a 100-year record. (Actually, the highest voter turnout was in 1876, at 81.8% of eligible voters; the second highest was in 1860, at 81.2%. Normally, only about 60% or so of eligible Americans go to the polls.) Citizens are “keenly interested” in politics, and as many as 60% of them followed the news in the month of September. More people, 51% to 43%, have a favorable opinion of Biden than of Trump. Given the coronavirus pandemic and the turbulent political life in general, the survey found that “Americans are mainly dominated by anger, fear, sadness, and their general mood is overwhelmingly negative.”
While 86% of the American respondents indicated that they intended to vote, in Hungary that number was only 62%. Most Hungarians know that the current president of the United States is Donald Trump, but only one third of the respondents know the name of his challenger. While many Americans predict that Biden will be the winner, that is not the case in Hungary, where 39% expect Trump to remain in office and only 27% think that Biden will win. The rest cannot pass judgment or have no opinion. A larger proportion of Americans than Hungarians are interested in political issues, but that may be the result of the political excitement generated by the upcoming election. As far as their primary source of information is concerned, Americans said it was television, while Hungarians said it was internet news sites. But again, that may be a function of the online survey Századvég conducted. The survey also claims that there is renewed interest in politics among the young people in Central Europe.
Luckily, almost concurrently with the Lounge Group, Ipsos also conducted a somewhat similar survey in which they measured adult citizens’ views on the U.S. election and the contenders in 24 foreign countries, of which 12 are in Europe, including Hungary. Across the map, Biden leads Trump by 50 percentage points in six countries and by 30 to 49 points in 10 others. Only in Poland and Russia does support for Trump equal or outweigh that for Biden. Sweden is very “Democratic,” where 73% of the citizens would vote for Biden and only 10% for Trump. On the other hand, Biden has few friends in Russia (13%).
Looking at the European countries, the most pro-Democratic countries are Sweden, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Spain, France, and Italy, in that order, where a substantial majority would vote for Biden. The least supportive of Biden are Russia, Poland, Turkey, and Hungary. In Hungary only 33% of the electorate would vote for Biden and 23% for Trump, while 37% have no opinion and 7% prefer not to answer. Hungary has one of the largest blocs of “undecideds” among all the countries surveyed, which I take as a reflection of the general ignorance about what is going on in the U.S. election campaign.
When it comes to the question “Who do you believe will be elected as president?” given the choice of Biden and Trump, Hungary is again near the bottom of the heap, this time with Russia, Poland, and the Netherlands. Hungarians give Trump a 35% chance of winning and Biden a 29% chance. In Poland, those who trust in the victory of Trump are almost double those betting on Biden (41% to 26%). Even the Russians are more cautious in their prediction than the Poles (36% to 25%).
From a Hungarian point of view, perhaps the most interesting part of the survey is a set of questions asked of the citizens of these 24 countries on “Serious risks for results of the next major election in own country.” Here are the categories and Hungarians’ assessments of them. When it comes to “interference from a foreign power” only 13% of Hungarians are concerned with such a problem. “Spreading fake news,” on the other hand, is a more serious concern (29%). The possible effects of “voter fraud or impersonation” are thought to be a vexing problem at election time (39%). “Efforts to prevent people from voting” doesn’t seem to be a serious problem (16%) nor are “Organizational problems” (12%). “Efforts to misrecord, misuse or destroy valid votes” was deemed a higher risk (26%). And the next item, “Vote buying (bribing people to vote a certain way)” was flagged by 41% of the respondents. It is becoming clear that direct and indirect vote buying is part of the secret of Fidesz’s strength in the countryside. The poor Roma are bought outright with a few forints’ worth of potatoes or onions or sometimes by offering them cash to vote a certain way. The rest of the poor folks in the villages who are employed as public workers paid by the municipal authorities are pressured to vote for the government party or are afraid of the consequences in case the authorities discover that they didn’t vote for the party they were supposed to.
If one looks at the overall ratings based on the answers to the listed problems as risk factors to clean elections, Hungary is bunched together with countries like Brazil, India, Mexico, Poland, Russia, and South Africa. Countries whose citizens have few doubts about their elections are Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Great Britain, Japan, the Netherlands, and Sweden. The country with the most concerns is, alas, the United States, with 24% worried about interference from a foreign power, 45% about fake news, 35% about voter fraud, 34% about efforts to prevent people from voting, 30% about organizational problems, 36% about efforts to misrecord, misuse or destroy valid votes, and 21% about vote buying.
It wasn’t a long time ago that Viktor Orbán, in response to one of the many foreign indictments of the widespread corruption in Hungary, not only repudiated any such claim but actually insisted that corruption in Germany is a graver problem than in Hungary. The prime minister should take a good look at the results of risk factors as registered by German and Hungarian citizens. While only 4% of Hungarians think that Hungarian elections exhibit none of the listed risks, 38% of Germans are certain of the same. In this case, Orbán can’t blame foreigners with ill-will toward Hungary. Here Hungarian citizens passed judgment on his government’s sham electoral practices.

Ms Barrett was just confirmed as justice, in a 52-48 Senate vote. She can cast the decisive vote in the Supreme Court to suppress ballots for Biden in Pennsylvania, in Wisconsin and in North Carolina in the next few days.
The Pennsylvania case:

You either don’t know enough English to know the Mrs. (NOT Ms.), to know her positions or you watched it with ear plugs. Which one?
@Christopher Dias, 2:52 am
Your question stems from lack of knowledge. Either form of address is appropriate.
Conservative women who are married prefer Mrs to Ms, and some of them consider being referenced as Ms as an insult in the USA. I do not know Judge Barrett’s thinking on that issue.
This stems from the revival of the term “Ms” which historically stood for the more formal term “Mistress”, like Mister did not originally indicate marital status. There is a feminist magazine in the USA called “Ms” see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ms._(magazine) so some conservative women see it as associated with that perspective. My wife uses Ms and it reflects her perspectives on women’s rights even though we have been married since we were college undergraduates.
My wife comes from a Native American family that belongs to the Methodist Church and Native American women in her tribe (the Iroquois Nation) actually are part of a matriarchal system. My wife’s name in the Iroquois language is Ah-Weh-Eyu (meaning Pretty Flower) which also her grandmother’s name. Her English name is simply Judy and all of our children also have names in the Iroquois language.
I could not call her “handmaid” …. 🙂
“Mrs.1580s, abbreviation of mistress , originally in all uses of that word. Prefixed to the name of a married woman by 1610s.
[…]
Pronunciation “missis” was considered vulgar at least into 18c.”
https://www.etymonline.com/word/Mrs.
PS
Which word stands for flower in Iroquois ?
I just asked my wife that question and she answered me in the Seneca Iroquois language: gaya:söh eyu. Which means according to her: it is named Eyu.
She asked me why I wanted to know? I said a Hungarian linguist was interested and she said send him this link https://senecalanguage.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/SENECA-DICTIONARY-FINAL.pdf
It is full English Seneca dictionary available from the tribe for free. She also said there are online classes available at this site https://sni.org/departments/seneca-language/.
She thought it was great you asked that question tappanch. She does not consider herself an advanced speaker, but an intermediate speaker.

Well, all of that’s fine and interesting. I’ll check out that link today, after a couple of lessons. You guys are missing the point. Many of you are doing so on purpose because socialists (aka communists tend to want to deflect attention away from the real issue. I just made a comment about it, which holds true.). If I use the word gay-I’m gay – it simply means happy – I’m happy. However, the queers manipulated that word and have changed its meaning to unrealistic and unbelievable levels. If you read old Hungarian and new Hungarian, or old English and New English, for that matter, you can find so many discrepancies and changes. Some of you missed the point on purpose, others, because it’s been part of your natures for some time and you don’t even know how to hold a conversation, others who would like to be informative (of which I appreciate, because that is how conversations and comprehension are developed). Supreme Court justices get deep into the law books. Suggest for Ms. Barrett to check dictionary first thing when going to chambers . Go to the ‘r’s…. ‘recuse’ (‘ry kyooz’)is a wonderful word to start out with.
And…
With her on the bench it will be interesting in seeing how she controls her apparently ‘deeply held’ belief in Catholicism from oozing out. Barrett may or may not be some of the new wrecking crew installed in US institutions by the greatest President in American history to make it his aim to destroy the democratic tradition forged onto the Constitution.
Joe Biden is a practicing Catholic and a member of either one of two Catholic churches in Wilmington Delaware where he attends mass. I have seen no reports he has been denied the Holy Communion in ether of those Delaware Catholic churches because of his public stance in defense of abortion rights under civil law. He was denied communion at St Anthony Catholic Church Catholic church in South Carolina in 2019 over his public position on abortion rights. The issue of rules relating to denying the right of communion in the USA for support of abortion rights under civil law vary by diocese, here in Chicago public figures who support abortion rights are not denied communion. The Catholic Church internationally opposes the death penalty, but has never denied communion to Catholic politicians in the USA who support it. I have pointed this out to priests before in discussions. It is most embarrassing to those priests because they are well aware the Church’s position on abortion flows from the fifth commandment “You shall not kill” which is also applied to state executions even though during the Inquisition the Church court executed plenty of people for heresy. I honestly do not… Read more »
Re: Justice Barrett
The pressure on her will be enormous being ‘hand-picked‘ by Trump and his advisors. It’s 6-3 in the judicial box scoreboard now. What Republicans cannot do on the field they no doubt now believe it can be done on the highest court of the land.
Don’t think the founders ever conceived the Supreme Court as a comfortable judicial nest for one particular political ideological group. And that it is none other than gravely detrimental to the entire future of democracy in America in the near future and into the decades ahead. Surely America is on course gambling in judicial danger when it comes to the promulgation of ‘rule of Law’ with this disgraceful Republican act especially so soon before an election.
I do not want to see membership in the Catholic Church singled out out for criticism.
Regarding the “fifth commandment”, while it is true that this is often translated in English as “Thou shall not kill”, the actual original Hebrew was “Thou shall not murder”.
I certainly don’t want to tell others how to believe, especially given my own agnostic-and on occasion-atheist beliefs.
Regarding Judge Barrett, I was 100% opposed to her nomination for both policy and process reasons.
I do not regard her religious beliefs as an appropriate topic of criticism.
@Misi bacsi 2:55 pm
“I do not regard her religious beliefs as an appropriate topic of criticism.”
I am surprised you should write that because if you asked Ann Coney what the guiding light in her life was, I have no doubt that she would say People of Faith and the Catholic Church (with the VM mixed in there as well), which is fine if she feels OK with that. Its just that it should debar her from the SCOTUS. Remember the separation of church and state?
She appears to be a slave to a sect and that doubtless will shortly be clear to all.
Her history is a testament of how she would judge and how her future is likely to transpire. It is clear enough, which is why Trump supports her-she’s a USA Constitutionalist. She recognizes the separation of branches of government. That means that she’s not an activist judge like the ‘liberal leftists’ (a.k.a. communist) judges, which is why the DemonRats despise her. The American system was actually created based on Judaeo-Christian dogma. Ref: America’s Prophet: Moses and the American Story by Bruce Feiler. The US system was based on the rule of law, not the rule of the majority, as in the case of a democratic system. The right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness is all the government’s responsible is to protect. The US has been stepping over those principles for a long, long time, which is why the US dept is 27 trillion dollars (27,000,000,000,000). Trump said that if the dollar reaches 26 trillion (I believe that was the limit) that the US economy would crash. Because of the Covid lie, that number has far exceeded that limit. However, if anyone is going to correct that issue, it’ll still be he. If he doesn’t kill the Federal… Read more »
I’m sure Barrett was made to give assurances before Trump would nominate her.
She certainly does not qualify to be supreme court justice, not least because she’s not old enough. A judge ought to be at least 60 years to have experienced death in the family etc.
Ms Barrett for sure knows what the fascist in the white house expects from her, she doesn’t need ear plugs to get it told.
And please make your sentences better readable, you should be able as “communications instructor”. What is “which one” related to? Ear or position?
Fascism is left wing!!! Commies and Fascists – Antifa is fa.
Then the political spectrum is left wing and Dias is right of it.

Barrett`s election – One of the darkest days in US history.
Should Trump being confirmed by A.C. Barrett in a justice decision, on that day it will no longer be the USA, then it will definitely be the
Divided States of America.
God save America from this chief judge.
Remember, the GOP is made up of pros.
Republicans are laser focused on one thing and one thing only: political outcome.
The Democrats don’t know what they want, they are undisciplined, they are weak.
Obama’s 8 years basically had 3 achievements: (i) Obamacare, which may or may not get repealed now (and really affected only a fraction of the society), (ii) the entrenchment of questionable war/survaillance powers implemented by W. Bush (increase of executive powers) and (iii) the election of Trump (who then appointed 3 young, hard-core right wing justices).
Other than “these” Obama had zero achievements, absolutely zero.
The Democrats simply don’t get that politics is for power. It’s not about feeling good that oh there is a cool president in office, it is about power.
The same is the problem with the Hungarian liberal/left-wing: they are weak, inhibited, divided, approval-seeking. Unless they change and get disciplined, focused and strategic, they will continue to fail.
Here’s the typical Repug Professional – tea party guy in congress:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Broun
“All that stuff I was taught about evolution and embryology and the Big Bang Theory, all that is lies straight from the pit of Hell.”[26]
In addition, Broun is a young earth creationist, and believes that the world is only a few thousand years old, and was created in six literal days.
And don’t even think about his positions on marriage, abortion, LGBT etc …
PS:
I wrote about this already on the “Gay bashing thread” but it’s still “waiting for approval”
@wolfi7777, 6:18 am
“…about his positions on marriage…”
I guess he would be committed to the missionary one.
Well, I don’t know. I wasn’t there for the big bang. You weren’t there. Creationism is as scientific as evolution, but I’d say more so. You were taught by atheists who believe in non-scientific empirical evidence. Most of my students who watch this video agree that the evolutionist has many problems with his theories: Creation / Evolution Debate 19 – Three on One! http://www.mediaaccess.hu/index.php?module=sourcepage&id=687&lang=1
You see, I never shut someone down for attempting to make a case, but I’ll attack them quickly for making asinine assumptions. To make assume makes an ass out of u, not me. Critical thinking! You ever hear of that before? You should try it! It might be a little hard if you haven’t done it before, but it’ll grow on you, like the hair on your back! Let me know the flaws in the vid, will you?
Empirical evidence is always scientific.
„Empirical evidence is the information received by means of the senses, particularly by observation and documentation of patterns and behavior through experimentation.“ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Empirical_evidence
You’re really tiresome with all your whining about the weak, unfocused Democrats and the wonderful, focused Republicans.
They are not wonderful at all, they are awful in fact, but they are focused as hell. They just get things done (ie. what’s important for them) and in politics that’s what counts. We have to face this. They don’t care if you hate them or not, they just go and get things done (ie. cut taxes for the rich, appoint fanatic conservative judges, kill EPA etc. – what is important for them and for them alone). In the US with its two-party system, so it’s a very simply game. The GOP cannot win without the Dems losing. So the problem is that the Democrats “lost” way too many times (and I don’t mean just elections but in a general sense). Otherwise the GOP could not be in a position like it is now: the most fanatic right-wing lawyers own the scotus 6-3. I’m pretty sure any Republican staregist would give up the presidency for such a majority in the scotus, at any time. They just understand real power better. It’s time for the Democrats to get disciplined and get things done. Unfortunately, the US election system heavily favors the rural, small states which will always vote for the Republicans… Read more »
The Democrats are the Communist party, although there are weaker communist parties that don’t deserve or receive attention. There are 4 main parties in the USA. The Republican Party, which includes many RINOs (Republican in name only; a.k.a. destructive termites) – they hold the Constitution to be sacred. Their Christian coalition is stronger because their Christians follow Christian dogma more cleanly. Then there is the Democrat Party (I call them the DemonRats), which is predicated on communist ideology. Then there is the Media. The mainstream media is mostly communistic, but luckily there are non-mainstream media that do their own research and form better dialogue based on critical thinking. Candice Owens, Dr. Steve Turley, Anthony Brian Logan, Charley Kurk, Millenial Weaver (she just did a documentary called “Shadowgate Documentary (official video by Millie Weaver, banned.video).” Then there are Tea Party groups who put up a so-called Republican who doesn’t follow the rules. The principles are quite simple: God, Country and Family. Well, if you don’t believe in God, think of it as this: Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. The government’s job – in theory – which Trump stands closer to – is to protect those things. It means that… Read more »
In fact, when Trump loses the presidency; the Republicans lose the Senate…you can write ‘finis’ to the Republican party. The Dems will flood the supreme court to nullify Trumps shenanigans there.
You can’t be serious, petofi. The Democrats will never ever pack the court.
Some pundits call for it sure but the establishment Democrats don’t want to do it, so they will not do it.
The Dems are sadly way too weak and inhibited.
The Dems are weak sounds like somebody say Marty ist stupid … the democrats have been very successful worldwide for 2500 years. Have you seen Republican Lindsey graham beg for money on Fox “news” that’s weak but funny to watch … or Orbán doesn’t give an interview because he’s not intellectually capable of it … that’s weak. The strongest Hungarian in Hungary is intellectually underdeveloped – that is strong weak.
DK, that’s the thing: Lindsey Graham or Mitch McConnell doesn’t give a —t about coming across as idiots.
They are happy knowing that they own the scotus and the many lower federal courts. You can laugh at them but you sure won’t laugh when the scotus will start to rearrange the constitutional setup people knew since FDR.
Given the election system in the US the Democrats may have no more than 2 years in power in which they will control the Senate (if at all).
After that, the GOP almost certainly will control it again for many years no matter how stupid the Republicans are.
This is just how the Senate works which prefers small, rural, white state which vote Republicans. There is no way people in Idaho or Alabama will ever vote for liberals, period.
And if so the scotus will start the hard work, the reason why these hard-core raight wingers were applinted in the first place.
Good luck with that one! Fake news always, everyday, every minute is sure to give you the runs. Haha.
Communism and leftism (includes Orbánistanism) is a mental disease. Who said that Republicans are wonderful and focused? Have you seen the national debt lately? Well, no wars, the ones that were around – about 7 or more – seem to be relatively squashed. No more bakers who don’t want to cater to gay marriages are going out of business. NO more Muslims coming to the US in hordes. No more massive southern border breaches. Military is rebuilt and the world is safer. No more big rocket man stunts. However, the oligarchs around the world are stronger than ever, especially because of the submissive whusses who concede to their every whims (i.e. the corona virus lie). That’s not Trump’s fault, that’s yours for not getting off your lazy ass and doing for yourself. It’s in one of my flyers: „Ha az emberek önmagukért nem hajlandóak cselekedni, akkor mi kellene ahhoz, hogy erofeszítéseiket tegyenek mindenkiért?”
Eva – Dias the “Flyer” reason, is the reason to delete his babble and disinformation.
@Marty, 5:33 am
You tend to overstate your case now and again and are surprisingly blind to the failures of our hero Viktor Orbán. To help you along, let us look at one of those: Trianon.
Orbán (the STRONG) has been in power now for 10 years and what has he done about Trianon? Nothing. Sure, he has the occasional speech at the Fidesz summer camp in Romania and gets his has-been helpers like Kövér to whine about it but Orbán is a complete wuss, a weakling, a failure and a wanker on Trianon. If he were really STRONG (in the Marty sense) he would have rolled the tanks through the border gates, fomented uprisings in the Lost Territories, trained and armed under-cover militias to seize back what is rightfully Hungary’s. Orbán’s sum total? Nothing, zilch, nada. It all sums up to weak, weak, weak.
At least President Obama (since you raise the comparison) had to face an intransigent Republican Senate and he still got (a watered-down) version of the Affordable Care Act onto the statute books. Here Orbán is still thinking about learning to ride so he can get a white horse and parade through the streets of Kassa!
Strength is just an image that voters like. Do people think Orban is strong? Yes. Do people think Karacsony is strong? No. Do people always vote for the candidate perceived as strong? No — but al things equal that image helps a lot. And since all things are not equal (as Fidesz has so much advantage) an opposition leader with an image of being string would be better, that’s my argument. Try to understand: politics is not about rational arguments which you make. It doesn’t work like that. If Orban is perceieved as strong by his supporters then he is strong. Period. Also, people are attracted to certain people (in a visceral way) and are repulsed by certain people (or simply don’t trust them). It’s unconscious. I already told it here (and I tell this from experience): fat, overweight salespeople are naturally trusted more by customers especially in rural regions. I don’t know why, but people somehow subconsciously distrust lean, thin people. It doesn’t mean that all successful salesmen are fat – just that it does help. So my point is that when you implement a policy you can be rational, but to get there you have to realize that… Read more »
@Marty, 1:12 pm
“Strength is just an image that voters like.” Ah yes, so that will be why Mr. Obama was elected President in two successive elections. He was perceived as STRONG. OK, I can buy that. I suspect he was also seen as a peace-maker, as reasonable, as decent and a fit president for all in the United States
Anyway, how do you rate Orban of Trianon?
The Dems always have to overcompensate because they are traditionally seen as “weak” (“soft on crime”, “tree huggers”, “bleeding heart liberals”, troops traditionally support the GOP etc.). Obama had to kill bin Laden just before the elections.
I’m not claiming that Obama’s image was that he was “strong” but he was not a “weakling” either for sure. His charisma meant a lot in this respect.
He was also pretty conservative and that was clear always. He will be seen as a great Republican president by future historians.
The point is that all things being equal it is better for a politician to have the image of being “strong”.
Leadership is not awarded to weaklings because voters subconsciously (or consciously) feel that weaklings don’t deserve it.
(To put it differently, people don’t want to have to respect a weak person whom they themselves don’t respect.)
ObamaCare was and is constitutionally illegal. By the way, the Supreme Court isn’t the supreme power of the land, the people are, then the state. Dred Scott v. Sandford is an example of the Supreme Court and activist judges usurping their power and the states blindly accepting it in the arse.
A.
The US Supreme court just disqualified (by a 5-3 decision) any Wisconsin mail-in ballot that does not arrive by 8 PM on November 3rd. Ms Barrett’s help was not needed yet. The Postmaster general (Trump’s former big donor) will make sure that a lot of the ballots will not arrive in time.
B.
Trump wants to an executive order to transform lots of civil servant positions into political positions.
The US under Trump is getting closer and closer to the Mafia system practiced so successfully by Orban
Trump wants to issue ….
Giving potatoes or /and onions to certain humans, doesn’t mean they will vote for the requested ones. Or is there a bodyguard next to each potatoe voter at the voting ballots?
A picture is worth than thousand words – Manipulation in elections (Corruption) in Hungary
Oh really? Any proof? Or if this is so true , is it only happening in Hungary?
Well, why does the government give out potatoes on election day?
or pay a few thousand forints extra?
Any idea why?
That still doesn’t prove, those people will vote for the potatoe/onion/money lenders. Most of these people don’t even bother to go to vote. Also, the same people have the loudest voice about how crappy is the actual government. Come on, let’s all be realistic.
CC+ yes it works in Hungary and also certain employers require from their employees to vote for Fidesz. By the way, this was also mentioned in several online articles. If you ever come to Hungary just ask how it works here and you will surely find people who have experienced it, I know a few.
Do you believe everything that’s published? Also, are those certain employers asking for photo proofs of the ballot paper? Cause that’s breach of voting secrecy.
Don’t you know about Horthy time, the glorious Hungarian democracy, when people had to vote in the open.
Omg, let’s just go back to the stone age, shall we?
Well, seeseenothing, that’s what Fidesz and the PISsers are trying to do – forget/ignore all democratic developments of the last thousands of years.
No I do not believe everything that is published. I live in a small village near a small town in Hungary where everybody knows everybody.
Well, I know the mayor of a small(ish) village, where also everybody knows everybody, so I have a bit more insight of what’s going on behind the scenes. But nowhere close to the bedtime stories you were mentioning before.
Goodargument …Taking pictures is the way to proof whether the money, job or anything else was “earned”….
Re: Krumpli and more krumpli on Election Day..
It probably passes as the ‘Magyar avocado‘ folks..interesting how they would taste fried with ketchup on top.. 😎
Hmmm, perhaps we should switch to avocado, since potatoes become pretty expensive. A couple of days ago I posted a picture of Jakab with a sack of potatoes in parliament, he wanted to give them as a present to the krumplikirály. Kövér now fined him with 4 400 000 Ft (12 047 € or 14 247 $) for this present. If potatoes are getting that expensive, we can’t afford them any more….
The ketchup is well hidden, or the various brands all wants to be the lead ketchup brand.
Are you saying these potatoe receiver people are chipped or have a hidden camera with them, or take picture of who they’re voting for? You should read less sci fi books:-)
Now back to reality:
Do you, CCnothing, see (pun intended …) any other reason why the government gives out potatoes – just once, instead of reducing Afa say from the crazy 27% so people have better prices.
That would really help the average joes.
And there have been many similar actions like sending out coupons for a few thousand forints to everybody – I’m sure you can imagine the date.
Hint:
It wasn’t Xmas …
Sure, back to reality: obviously the vat reduction would be more helpful. I agree. But giving out vouchers or potatoes still doesn’t answer my question/concern, how can you make sure, those individuals are going to vote for oranges?
The basic question which you seem unable to answer is:
Wtf are these potatoes or 10 000 forint coupons for?
Btw the “management effort” for these pennies is almost unbelievable so again a few Fideszniks get rich on this.
Omg, just try using your brains a but further that imagining things . You don’t seem to understand, those vouchers or 10k, or potatoes, will not ensure those people will vote for oranges
Well, seeseenothing use your brain:
Why does the Hungarian government do this just before the elections?
Any ideas?
And how much money is spent there and how much of it goes to whom?
About 99% of Hungarians have a camera chip. And this is no sci fi, but standard in mobile phones.
Besides: Last year Roma entered a polling station and a FIDESZ member of the staff told what to vote (not some BS, just look it up in the incidents on official valasztas.hu). How often did this happen and no opposition member was present or just didn’t put it on the record? I personally know from 2 independent persons that the mayor told them not to go to vote if they want to keep their job – these persons were known not to be friends of the ruling mafia.
All I can say, if everything is so very manipulated as you guys are stating , it doesn’t make any sense to close the drapes for each individuals when they are ticking the “required” box.
“it doesn’t make any sense to close the drapes for each individuals when they are ticking the “required” box.”
You forget the show that Hungary would be a democracy, where 2/3 of the population love Orbán….
Ok, there are a lot of problems with this article. Some true news I know next to nothing about and a whole lot of FAKE NEWS I know a lot about. Polls are a lot like rotten eggs—you shouldn’t eat them. If I take a poll of the family of the author of this website, assuming he has a relatively in tact family, I’m gonna be getting a pretty high percent of people who say „love”, but if I take a poll of non-loving communists, then the polling numbers will go down!! First and foremost, Orbán Viktor is a leftist communist (a.k.a national socialist; illiberal; and yes, democrat [a.k.a. DemonRat]). Viktor wants centralized government and Trump wants individualism to reign (TO PRESERVE THE REPUBLIC, which wasn’t intended to be a democracy; if you don’t know the difference between a democracy and a republic, you shouldn’t be talking about anything political): Trump Cuts Red Tape On Regulation: https://youtu.be/ykQdG51clqk. No one, not even readers of HungarianSpectrum can argue that Orbán has done everything to solidify the central power of his oligarchs. Stop watching FAKE NEWS! Trump has well over a 90% chance of winning, and the readers of this site should celebrate… Read more »

Once again, we hope you will select the latter option.
Like all DemonRats, your class is just felsőfokú!

Ah, I see you have just woken from your morning nap…
If you want to write a love letter to Trump, please don’t start like as you start your comments. Let me translate what you write.
„Ok, there are a lot of problems with this article. Some true news I know next to nothing about and a whole lot of FAKE NEWS I know a lot about.“
“I did not understand the article. There are real news I don’t know anything about and lies I know very well.”
If you write something like this in your love letter, Trump will crumple up the paper after the first sentence and throw your love letter into the trash. It’s best to start with “Your Excellency” and repeat this in your letter at least 16 times. The conclusion should be “I remain in deep affection” or something similar.
Oh yes, the “teacher” with his comments that are far from reality. Better would be democracy and rule of law in Hungary and abolishing everything in connection with the far right NER and the corresponding crime. Perhaps Americans will be able to get rid of the fascist in the white house by elections, bad enough we won’t get rid of our fascist dictator by elections.
Trying to have an adult conversation with children that still poop their pants isn’t a great idea.. Goodbye turd brain!
István who would have thought that Dias still poop in his pants?
“István who would have thought that Dias still poop in his pants?”
I didn’t know that, but indeed an adult conversation with him is impossible. Did he really say goodbye to his brain?
It is so difficult if an communications instructor can’t express himself clearly. The other extreme is Éva, who always expresses herself clearly and unequivocally.
Ja ich mag sie.
Sorry, but the results of the reported survey are of little interest. After all if the Hungarian electorate keeps voting for a serial criminal embezzler in Viktor Orbán, how can one take seriously any Hungarian opinion concerning elections in other countries? If Hungarians are unable to supervise their own personal electoral hygiene, what possible useful advice could they have for voters in other countries?
Lounge group is essentially a fidesznik money laundering outfit which is also an integral part of the Fidesznik propaganda machine.
Its client base consists entirely of state owned and right-wing/Fidesz-related entities.
Index had an article on the main guy behind Lounge, named Gyula Balásy with the title:
“The new media king who actually believes the Fidesznik propaganda”.
Whatever Lounge produces is pure propaganda, no need to deal with it.

Lounge Group [lounge.hu] is the “mother company” to which belong “New Land Media Reklám, Szolgáltató és Kereskedelmi Kft” And “Lounge Design Szolgáltató Kft”. The two companies which as a “consortium” since late 2016 have been awarded “communication contracts” by OV’s Propaganda Ministry for the “nice” total amount of about 110 billion HUF [ca.357 million Euro].
The “communication works” under those contracts have been described by OV’s government as:
–“Governmental decisions that have a special impact on the lives of citizens” [currently at nr.22]
–“The Future of Europe etc…” [currently at nr.14]
In fact these works are part of campaigns for “Consultations” and similar Propaganda.
Latest contract see https://ted.europa.eu/udl?uri=TED:NOTICE:490742-2020:TEXT:EN:HTML [lotnr.12]

Thanks for the confirmation. Now tell me about Orban and Trianon.
What’s to say about that – the strong man represents a under-20% minority and he doesn´t even speak any Romanian or Slavic – not much strength to muster there!
Are you familiar with the old saying: “It’s the empty barrel that rumbles the loudest”?
Eva your discussion of the survey is correct to question the estimation made of the number of people who will vote in the coming presidential election in the USA. But then you wrote: “While 86% of the American respondents indicated that they intended to vote, in Hungary that number was only 62%.” There is no state in the union where 86% of those eligible to vote are registered to vote, the highest percentage of registered voters to eligible voters is in Maine where that number is around 77.10%, in Illinois where I am a legal resident that number is around 62.40%. I do agree that it is likely based on the data coming in from early voting that the percentage of registered voters who will actually vote will be high. I also found this section of your post Eva confusing: “According to the Lounge survey, more than five out of six voting-age Americans will go to the polls this year, which would be a 100-year record. (Actually, the highest voter turnout was in 1876, at 81.8% of eligible voters; the second highest was in 1860, at 81.2%. Normally, only about 60% or so of eligible Americans go to the polls.)”… Read more »
OT:
444.hu will publish in print (written by Peter Magyari) a very long article about the 2018 elections, especially the cooperation of the opposition.
This unusual, in-depth article is the topic in this very interesting podcast (between Magyari and Gergo Planko).

Bad News from Poland.
When protests against the ban on abortions is nationwide leader of ruling party Jaroslaw Kaczynski today called his supporters to defend the catholic churches and to attack protesters portrayed as a enemy of the nation. Please tell me when last time European leader called for bloodshed???
What’s going on in Poland is beyond description. How can be stop these maniacs?
I don’t know. Only pressure of society can force them to do at least step behind.
I look at the clear preference Europeans have for the likes of Biden or Democrats, or better put leftists, Neo-Marxists and so on. Then I look at the fact that as of right now, the EU economy is about 35% smaller than it was in 2007 in USD terms. A fifth of its size wiped out by Brexit and a further 15% due to its “stellar” economic performance. Surely there is no correlation between the collective ideological path of the EU and this sorry state of things. And now, on top of everything we are on the verge of seeing the great French nation be humiliated by the Muslim World. EU will do the usual, make some solemn, idealistic statements and then do nothing to help France out, because there is not much that it can do. It is impotent, self-castrated, through collective self-loathing, mixed in with idiotic idealism and a lack of contact with the real world. It will turn inward and continue with its ideological jihad against Hungary, a tiny nation that it already caught in its trap almost 2 decades ago, together with the other broken countries of the East, which surely it can push around, thus… Read more »
Yes, pathetic describes your “reasoning”, zoli.
Nobody forced the Eastern sh*thole countries to join the EU and to stay in – maybe we should exchange PISser country and Orbanistan for Ukraine?
PS:
You’re really funny – calling Biden etc Marxists … 🙂 🙂
Then Mrs Merkel and her people are also Marxists?
Maybe you should join Mrs Barrett in her sect – or are you already a member? 🙂 🙂
Actually, there was immense propaganda pressure on Eastern countries to join the EU. Typical accusation for any hesitation was that they were moving back towards Russia, or towards communism, dictatorship and so on. So they rushed, accepting all miserable demands. As a result the region in question has among the lowest number of fortune 500 companies, on a per GDP basis on this planet.
As for Merkel? Yes, some clear Marxist traits. The Western ideological spectrum has moved so far to the left in past decades, that open borders Merkel, migrant quotas, Marx eulogizing Junker are called “conservatives” these days. And as I pointed out in regards to economic performance, the results of the quality of leadership are showing. Another decade or two of this and EU will look more and more like Venezuela.
Good for you zoli that you don’t live in Europe!
So why do you care about the EU’s horrible future? 🙂 🙂
You should be happy – less competition in the world economy …
“Nobody forced the Eastern sh*thole countries to join the EU and to stay in”
They even were very inpatient, the faster they could joint the better from Eastern European view. Most pressure came from Poland. I remember that Kwaśniewski said that the fate of Poland is to remain 5 years before joining the EU for all times. That these countries weren’t fit both economically and politically was the work of marxists – the real ones, not Biden, Merkel or other conservatives.
